About Us – KMLDesign
KMLDesign, founded by award-winning garden designer Kathleen Murphy, helps homeowners create beautiful, functional gardens through thoughtful garden design and landscape planning. Established in 2006, Kathleen and her team have designed gardens ranging from inner-city courtyards and suburban gardens to large private properties in Australia and around the world.
Kathleen's approach focuses on getting the garden layout right and creating a strong connection between the architecture of the home and the surrounding landscape. Her Design Your Dream Garden framework helps homeowners develop a scaled Garden Concept Plan suited to their site, needs, and budget.
With training in horticulture and further studies in native plants, Kathleen brings extensive knowledge of plant selection, garden planning, landscape design, and Australian growing conditions to every project. KMLDesign's work is particularly focused on creating gardens that are beautiful, practical, sustainable, and suited to their specific site.
Kathleen was also recognised with The Design Files + Laminex 2020 Landscape Design Award for Native Retreat-Studio Garden.

Kathleen collaborates with a dynamic team of landscape designers, teaching others how to create beautiful garden spaces. Our signature program is ‘Design your Dream Garden Online’ , which is self paced so you have total flexibility.
Each step is broken down into bite size actionable pieces, accompanied with videos and templates and support from Kathleen. By the end of the program you will have a scaled Garden Concept Plan specific to your site, needs and budget.

Trained in horticulture at Dublin's Botanical Gardens and later completed further studies with the Royal Horticultural Society and Melbourne's Burnley University studying native plants.
Kathleen worked for Landscape Architects Mitchells & Associates in Dublin, working on a number of large scale projects. She established Kathleen Murphy Landscape Design (KMLD) in 2006 and has been designing gardens and leading a small team ever since.
She was awarded The Design Files + Laminex 2020 Landscape Design Award for Native Retreat-Studio Garden. Which is now offered as accommodation (Macedon View House & Garden) so you can stay and explore it yourself!
